We are conducting a food drive at Casino Night,to benefit The St Louis Area Foodbank, so please bring a donation of canned goods that evening to help us collect food for the area families in need.  The ASA Midwest Counicl is Building.Community.

Did you know there are many families in the STL area going to bed hungry each night? A look at Food Insecurity in the St. Louis Region shows roughly 850,000 people are facing food insecurity in the state of Missouri alone, and that includes about 220,000 kids under the age of 18.

Bring a donation of canned goods, or other items on below list, to help ASA make an impact on our community, by helping those families in need!  Your donation will impact the lives of those in our area, so please don’t forget your food donation on December 7th.

We will be discussing a very important topic during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month!

Suicide Prevention & Mental Health in the Construction Industry.

The construction industry is a one of the strongest industries,with some of the best people making up the workforce. Although construction is very rewarding, it has been taboo to talk about what is responsible for the death of many people in our workforce SUICIDE!

As a male dominated industry, historically, there has been a stigma that we can’t talk about what’s troubling us, our feelings, etc., AGCMO has been working to break that STIGMA since 2019, through education, courage and compassion. Thank you to the AGC for sharing this important information with our members!

Mr. Brandon Anderson, VP of Safety, AGCMO, will share the following information during his presentation:
Identifying warning signs
How to listen and respond
How to start a conversation to instill HOPE, that you are not alone
Resources available to the work force.

Mr. Brandon Anderson,VP of Safety, AGC of Missouri.

Mr. Brandon Anderson, Vice President of Safety at AGC of Missouri. Anderson began his career working for a Bridge Contractor in the Midwest. For seventeen years he was employed by the Department of Transportation; holding various positions including fifteen years as a lead safety and employee development instructor. With 26 years of experience in construction, Mr. Anderson came on board with AGCMO as safety consultant. Soon after he was tasked to lead AGCMO’s Suicide Awareness & Prevention in Construction Program. His passion and personal experience with Mental Health and Suicide Awareness runs deep; with his leadership the program has spread nationwide. Having a background from working alongside and leading “boots on the ground” employees, to employee and leadership development; along with safety training. Mr. Anderson brings real world knowledge and lived experience to the table.

Speaker Bio:
Maryanne Martin served as an Industrial Hygienist for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, St. Louis Area Office for seven and a half years and currently serves as the Compliance Assistance Specialist.  During her career with OSHA, Ms. Martin received several awards, including OSHA’s 2014 Champion of the Year award from both the National Office and Region VII Office for exceptional performance in support of agency goals, the 2014 National Safety Council “Rising Star” award, OSHA’s 2012 Secretary’s Valor award, and the Assistant Secretary’s Team Impact Award.  Since April 1, 2018, Ms. Martin has been the Compliance Assistance Specialist providing outreach and compliance guidance to a variety of groups including small businesses, trade and professional associations, union locals, community, and faith-based groups.  Additionally, she promotes and helps to implement OSHA’s cooperative programs, including the Voluntary Protection Programs, the Strategic Partnership Program, and the Alliance Program
